This is a directional marker sign developed by Samuel Yellin, metalworker, for the Mountain Lake Sanctuary (now Bok Tower Gardens). It reads 'Atlantic Ocean 67 miles' and points east. The bird depicted is supposed to be a crow. Similar signs were scattered throughout the sanctuary. Historical evidence shows they likely remained in place into the 1950's. The date is an estimate based on other negatives in this collection and historical documentation. This negative is included in a set of three books which include Mr. Burrell's photographic documentation of the construction of the Singing Tower.
