This is an image of the initial expansion of the Reflection Pool north of the Singing Tower at Mountain Lake Sanctuary (now Bok Tower Gardens). Several construction workers can be seen in the foreground with shovels. Two beasts of burden, possibly mules, are attached to a cart in the center of the image. In the distance, the steel frame of the tower can bee seen. At the base of the Tower is a shed, likely housing a winch used during construction. The pool was expanded from the original Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. design to better reflect the completed Tower. The date is an estimate based on other negatives in the collection as well as historical documentation. This negative is included in a set of three books which include Mr. Burrell's photographic documentation of the construction of the Singing Tower.
