The carillon is located in the Alumni Memorial Campanile of the University of Northern Iowa. The Alumni Memorial Campanile is 100 feet high and houses a 47-bell carillon. The instrument was begun in 1926 as a chime with 15 bells cast by the Meneely and Company Bell Foundry (Watervliet, New York, US). Eleven of those bells remain. The chime was enlarged in 1968 with 36 bells made by the Petit and Fritsen Bell Foundry (Aarle-Rixtel, Holland, NL). The I. T. Verdin Company (Cincinnati, Ohio, US) installed the bells.
