About This Collection

This collection includes correspondence, publications, and other related paper documents that describe the development and growth of Bok Tower Gardens, formerly known as Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower as well as Historic Bok Sanctuary. This collection includes, but is not limited to, correspondence with Edward W. Bok, former editor of Ladies' Home Journal and founder of the Gardens; Milton Medary, architect of the Singing Tower; the Olmsted Brothers firm, landscape architects for the gardens; Samuel Yellin, iron worker; Lee Lawrie, sculptor; and William Lyman Phillips, on-site landscape consultant. Materials date from the early 1920's to present day.
